What is Vote For A Neighbor?
America has an ongoing problem with having terrible choices when it comes to the ballot box. Vote For A Neighbor is a way to use sortition as an alternative to terrible and corrupt candidates. A way to use our votes collectively to not support a bad candidate just because we like the party they are playing for. A populous, anti-campaign approach to elections for offices with non-executive power.
Politicians lie to our faces everyday while becoming richer for it. At least a neighbor from your district is a lot more likely to have lived in your same tax bracket. And a neighbor from your district did not just spend this campaign season collecting donations and making promises behind closed doors.
Elected officials are public servants. I think many of them need to be reminded of that. It is time we as a people set some boundaries with our politicians.
Vote For A Neighbor is here to give voters a better last resort option when voting. A ‘populous wildcard’ option when for voters who do not like any other voting option they have.
Who is a Neighbor?
A Neighbor is anyone who meets the requirements, entered within the required timeframe, was randomly selected, is legally eligible to hold office and has agreed to take the responsibility of that office if they were to win the write-in campaign.
Being named a Neighbor is NOT an endorsement. It is just someone who met all the requirements and was randomly selected. Vote For A Neighbor is not here to endorse candidates, it is here ensure a valid and unbiased process was used to randomly select a Neighbor.
New Neighbors will be selected every election, regardless of who is running.
The process for selecting Neighbor will be posted on our YouTube channel after each election cycle to ensure as much transparency as possible from Vote For A Neighbor.
There can only be a neighbor option if there are enough entrants, so please ENTER HERE so voters can have more options on the ballot.
Mission & Vision
To give voters a better ‘last resort’ option when voting.
Vote For A Neighbor is here to provide an unbiased and transparent random selection process for a “lottery” candidate.
While sortition is not a new concept, making it an option for American voters to choose is. If this is a popular idea with the American public, the long term vision for Vote For A Neighbor would be for there to be a sortition option on every ballot for every elected office that does not have executive power. So the long term vision is to not need Vote For A Neighbor, but until then Vote For A Neighbor will strive for a transparent and unbiased lottery selection process for use by all who see value in the Neighbor ballot option.
